Migra Whistle
Whistles are an important tool because their sound carries over long distances, allowing people to quickly alert neighbors when an ICE raid or police presence is happening nearby. The goal is to warn others so they can stay safe, document what’s happening, and support community members who might be at risk. It’s about keeping each other informed and protected when communication matters most.
Where did this start?
Across Chicago
Neighbors started carrying plastic whistles to keep each other safe. When immigration agents appear, the signal goes out:
three short blasts if agents are nearby
one long note if someone is being detained.
The sound brings people out of their homes. Phones come up. Witnesses gather. What once happened quietly now happens in public, with eyes and voices around it.
