AMERICA CAN'T AFFORD BILLIONAIRES
AMERICA CAN'T AFFORD BILLIONAIRES
Problem
Over the past four decades, billionaires have amassed outsized wealth while working people’s wages have stagnated. This did not happen by chance or innovation, but by specific policy choices favoring capital over labor. Tax codes let the ultra-wealthy grow their fortunes with lower proportional contributions than workers. Corporate loopholes and deregulation raise costs for Americans while protecting profits.
Solution
To correct this imbalance, we must take clear steps: tax extreme wealth fairly by raising marginal rates for billionaires and large estates; eliminate loopholes for the ultra-rich; and end preferential treatment of capital gains and offshore tax havens. Increase public spending that reaches everyone by expanding universal healthcare, childcare, affordable housing, clean energy, and strong schools. By requiring the wealthiest to contribute more, we lay the groundwork for an economy that works for all.
Bottom Line
America can afford anything we choose to prioritize—if we act now. I will push for tax fairness: demand to put people over billionaires. Insist that we adopt policies that serve the public, strengthen democracy, and offer every person a fair shot at a thriving life.
